Kafkaesque

From Postmodern Dictionary
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Any legislative or socially, economically, educationally or journalistically prescriptive scheme that is dissonant with respect to the progressive movement's latest programs.

This definition is admittedly provisional, since it cannot be assured of covering all the important criteria of the moment. Nevertheless, it supersedes the definition in Merriam-Webster, which is "of, relating to, or suggestive of Franz Kafka or his writings; especially : having a nightmarishly complex, bizarre, or illogical quality." The problems with this definition are (1) it is politically neutral and (2) it is too tied to the writings of Franz Kafka to be adequately flexible in application.

The new definition vastly improves the flexibility of its use and, at the same time, ties it appropriately to the evolving needs of progressive propaganda.
